Your unofficial guide to dining out in a group around Nashville.

Logan's Roadhouse

Friday, November 04, 2005

Logan's Roadhouse is a chain of casual dining restaurants with multiple locations in the Nashville area. Their Elliston place location features a cleaned-up roadhouse atmosphere with classic American fare. The lunch menu is a subset of their main fare: burgers, steaks, fish and salads.

First Impressions

Shabby chic, the knotty pine walls attempt to create ambiance, but end up feeling more like a theme park... not uninviting, but nothing special either.

Accomodating the group

We called ahead and were seated within five minutes. This location is a very busy lunch spot, so they have their seating down to a science. This time, our party of six was supposed to be joined by one and a half more who didn't show. However, the table where we were placed was actually a bit tight for six.

The Chips and Salsa

Not sampled this time.

The Food

Our wait for the food was very reasonable given the traffic level of the restaurant - about fifteen minutes. Today, I had the burger. The non-buttered, doughy white bun was delicious, but my medium grilling ended up rare on the far side of the burger.

The Service

Our waiter was good, if a bit inconsistent. He took our drink orders by memory, but had to keep asking our sweet tea person whether she had sweet tea or not. The drinks were maintained fairly well, and our orders were delivered accurately... even the one that was completely off the menu.

The Verdict

Logan's Roadhouse is a good place for a lunch party of six. On Joe's scale, we give it three out of five chips. Better seating choice and more accurate service would bring it up a notch, as would a more innovative menu.

Glad to see that you (kinda) liked it. One of the managers at this location is a buddy of mine and a fellow cyclist.

Of course, now I'm gonna be craving one of their yeast rolls all day...
